9U Four Counties Event

with No Comments

Saturday 30th March saw the 9 & Under Oxfordshire boys & girls compete in the Four Counties Orange ball event at the White Horse, Abingdon.

This team event saw them up against teams from Sussex, Berkshire & Middlesex with Josh Crossley & Olly Carr captains for the day. The day kicked off with the doubles matches where the Oxfordshire teams put in some good performances working well together, managing to get a couple of wins on the board. The team worked hard on their positioning on the court and improved over the course of the morning.

Illness had taken a couple of boys out of the team on the day but some last minute reserves got the teams back to full strength for the afternoon. The singles followed the doubles which gave all the players more chances to work on their individual goals which they all took on board well and worked hard to improve. With the level of Tennis very high all of the players were challenged and over the course of the day began to settle and feel more in control with performances improving all round. Oxfordshire managed to get some more wins in the singles before ending the day with a round of mixed doubles against Berkshire.

Oxfordshire finished the day 4th behind Berkshire with Middlesex coming first. Valentin was nominated by the other counties for his sportsmanship & Fair Play during the day, so well done Val!

There was lots of progress & learning taking place over the course of the day so congratulations to all those involved.
