Oxfordshire’s juniors will hit the tennis courts at North Oxford next week for the county’s annual Junior Tennis Festival (26 – 31 August).
With more than 300 thrilling matches over seven age groups, the Festival will feature players from eight years of age through to 18 with events for singles, doubles and mixed doubles. For the first time this year there is also a new category for players aged 25 and under.
Held at North Oxford Tennis Club, the tournament attracts players from local clubs and public parks as well as those who represent the County. There will also be a fun family event for juniors and seniors in a mixed doubles tournament.
“We are looking forward to some great tennis action in what should be a fun, competitive and very sociable week,” said Simon Elliott of Tennis Oxfordshire. “We will be raising funds for the Dan Maskell Tennis Foundation and have a great finals day planned for 31 August.”
Oxfordshire Junior Tennis Festival is just one of several initiatives planned to get more young people playing tennis – either within their school environment or via their local tennis club.
