Meet the Team
Meet the Oxfordshire LTA County Officials who are responsible for all County Tennis matters across Oxfordshire.
Mark Wilkinson – Vice Chairman
Having played tennis throughout my life, I know just what fun it is, for all ages and standards. I also met my wife on a tennis court ! I was Chair at North Oxford for four years, so have an understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing Tennis Oxfordshire’s members. It is a privilege to be on the Tennis Oxfordshire management committee helping support tennis activities across the County.
Alison Jackson – Treasurer
Alison has had various roles on the Management Committee over the last 10 years. She is currently Treasurer and chairs the Selection Committee for Junior County Training and Inter – County events. She is a National Level Tennis Referee and referees the Junior Tennis Festival as well as many other events in and out of the county and is an active member of Appleton Tennis Club.
Sarah Wilkinson – Secretary
I am Secretary of Tennis Oxfordshire and enjoy being involved and taking an interest in tennis across the county. I started to play tennis regularly in my 30s and haven’t looked back. I have been a member of NOLTC for over 20 years. As well as playing, I have been involved with organisation and catering at NOLTC, helping with tennis tournaments the Club has hosted, including County Week.
Andrew Broadhurst – Committee Member
I’m a great fan of tennis in any form and any level. I play socially (Lower Windrush), enjoy league tennis (for Kingston Bagpuize with Southmoor) and usually manage a couple of competitions a year. I grew up playing a lot of racket sports and now volunteer in both the badminton world (chairing the Oxfordshire Junior Badminton Management Committee) as well as being very proud to be involved with the team at Tennis Oxfordshire.
Lynne Trenery – Committee Member
Lynne is a low level tennis player who can no longer play with her 17 year old daughter who is in the Oxfordshire county squad and plays for her local club. She is passionate about making tennis inclusive and available to people of all ages and abilities and is particularly focused on Tennis Oxfordshire projects which introduce tennis to children in state schools and who then might make the move to join their local club.
Simon Elliott – Committee Member
My passion for hitting a small yellow ball made out of felt started at school. It was the game you played with your ‘mates’. Fast forward and the enjoyment of tennis is as strong as ever – if a little slower. Supporting my daughter Chloe through the roller-coaster of competition has helped me understand the game in a whole new way – including not to kid yourself you can take a set from a 15 year old. It’s safer to stick to your mates.
Jon Maskens – Committee Member
Jon is Tennis Oxfordshire’s county men’s captain and a former top 40 ranked GB player. Jon is currently the LTA’s East region coach of the year and has been Oxfordshire men’s county captain for over ten years. He has represented Oxfordshire from the age of 8 all the way through to the men’s team.
Steve Winyard – Committee Member
I look after the Adult Leagues and chair the Leagues Committee. I am a member of Oxford Sports LTC and before that, Norham Gardens. For many years I was a top international umpire and referee and officiated at Davis Cup and Fed Cup finals as well as Wimbledon finals (Women’s 1986, Men’s 1987). I am currently an Independent Chair Umpire Evaluator for the ATP/Grand Slams/ITF/WTA joint officiating programme.
Neil Shirley – Committee Member
I got into volunteering in tennis through watching my two children play and love the sport. I try to play myself, but I am terrible so I decided to volunteer at Oxford Sports LTC and then Tennis Oxfordshire and I help out wherever I can; from assisting with the Junior Tennis Festival, helping the county training to sending out communications to Oxfordshire tennis contacts. I am passionate about helping to provide the opportunity for as many people as possible to try tennis.
Karen Czaplewski – Committee Member
I was recruited on to the Tennis Oxfordshire committee to be the volunteer county safeguarding officer. I am committed to promoting the well-being of everyone associated with Tennis Oxfordshire and believe that all involved in playing tennis should show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of others. I am a huge tennis fan but I watch it better than I play it.
Lucy Brown – Committee Member
I started playing tennis at the age of nine and went on to represent Great Britain. I played professionally for six years, travelling much of the world. Since retiring at the end of 2016 I have been coaching and really enjoy getting the best out of players and seeing them improve. When I’m not on the tennis court I enjoy spending time with my dog, running and clay shooting.
