18U Girls County Cup Report

The Girls 18U team were in Wrexham this year. The three other teams in their group were Cumbria, North Wales and South of Scotland. 

The team consisted of Sonia, Ottelia, Louise, Laila, Charlotte, Maria Clara, Olivia and May. 

The girls played against Cumbria on Friday. The whole team played extremely well and won 9-0 without dropping a set. A great start to the weekend! 

Saturday’s opponents were North Wales. The team continued their winning streak and took another convincing victory 9-0. 

Sunday saw the girls playing for promotion against South of Scotland. They got off to a fantastic start with a 4-2 lead after singles. This meant only one more rubber was needed to gain promotion. However, the girls won all three doubles matches, resulting in a 7-2 win overall.

I’d like to say a huge congratulations and well done to the team on their promotion! Not only did they play brilliantly throughout the whole weekend, they represented the County extremely well and should all be really proud of themselves. 

A big thanks to the players, parents and Tennis Oxfordshire for their support over the weekend.
